Hancock Women Battle LA Southwest Tuesday

The women's basketball team hits the road for one game this week, a showdown set for Tuesday, Nov. 19, at LA Southwest. The Bulldogs enter the week with a 2-1 record after last week's 50-point win at Taft College.

Last week, the Bulldogs crushed Taft 90-50 behind career-best performances from freshman Syenna Ramirez (St. Joseph HS) who finished with 28 points and nine rebounds, as well as sophomores Marissa Torres (Templeton HS) and Ashley Daher (San Joaquin Memorial HS) who scored 22 and 15 points respectively. Hancock made 65 percent of its shots overall and pulled down 50 rebounds. Sophomore JJ Carlotti (St. Joseph HS) scored a career-high eight points off the bench, while Destinee Garcia (Golden West HS) added 10 rebounds and three steals.

LA Southwest has lost its first three games of the season, 95-34 to Chaffey, 72-40 to LA Pierce and 63-40 to Imperial Valley. Freshman 6'1" center Latifah Bayonne led the team with 12 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks in the loss to Chaffey. Last year, Hancock fell 44-35 to LA Southwest during a tournament in San Diego.
