Hancock Women Close Home Schedule Wednesday Against First Place Ventura

The women's basketball enters its second to last week of the regular season with its final home game of the season set for Wednesday, February 10 at 5 p.m. against first place Ventura. The Bulldogs will then travel to L.A. Pierce on Saturday, Feb. 13 for a 3 p.m. Western State Conference game.

The Bulldogs start the week having lost three in a row with an overall record of 15-9 and 4-5 mark in Western State Conference play. Last week, Hancock fell 77-56 at Oxnard and 60-42 at home against Moorpark. Freshman Syenna Ramirez (St. Joseph HS) led the Bulldogs with 21 points against Oxnard and 17 against Moorpark.  Sophomore Marissa Torres (Templeton HS) and freshman Destinee Garcia scored eight apiece in the loss to the Falcons.

The Bulldogs will look to knock off first place Ventura, which enters the game 9-0 in conference and 23-4 overall. The Pirates are ranked fourth in the South Region and looking for their 26th straight conference title. Ventura has won 41 straight league games, including a 77-32 victory over Hancock last month.

Sophomore guard Aubri Smith leads the Pirates with 11 points per game. St. Joseph High School graduate Amani White averages nearly nine points and eight rebounds per game for Ventura. 

Ramirez remains Hancock's leading scorer at 17.5 points per game. Torres and Garcia average 8.3 points.
