Hancock Women Fall 55-46 at Reedley Despite 16 Points from Lee-Hammer

Taylor Lee-Hammer scored a career-high 16 points, but the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team fell 55-46 at Reedley on Tuesday afternoon. The Bulldogs fell to 2-2, and Reedley improved to 1-3.

Hancock led 18-14 after the first quarter, but the Bulldogs were outscored 14-6 in the second half and trailed 28-24 at halftime. Reedley extended its lead to 42-30 to start the fourth quarter.

Lee-Hammer sank five of her 10 shots from the field, including both of her shots from 3-point range. The freshman point guard sank four of her seven free throws, and pulled down five rebounds.

Freshman center Grace Rosa scored nine points on four-for-seven shooting. Rosa added six rebounds and two steals. Freshman forward Naomi Leopardi scored six points, had four assists and pulled down a career-best 13 rebounds, including five offensive boards.

The Bulldogs shot 39 percent from the field and sank 18 of their 46 shots from the field. Hancock hit seven of its 14 free throws.

The Hancock defense held Reedley to 32 percent shooting from the field, including 17 percent from 3-point range.

Nyla Curtis led Reedley with 15 points.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday, December 1, against American River to open a tournament hosted by Cuesta College.
