Trio of Bulldogs Post Double-Doubles, Hancock Women's Basketball Earns First Win of Season, 65-60, at LA Harbor

Freshman Hannah Walls, as well as sophomores Grace Rosa and Karly Beyers collected their first double-doubles of the season to lead the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team to a 65-60 win at L.A. Harbor on Friday evening. The Bulldogs evened their record at 1-1 overall, while Harbor fell to 0-1.

Hancock trailed 27-22 at halftime, but outscored Harbor 24-15 in the third quarter to take the lead for good at 46-42,

Rosa made eight of her 13 shots from the floor and both of her free throws to finish with a team-high 18 points. The Paso Robles High School graduate pulled five offensive rebounds and 13 rebounds overall to earn her first double-double of the season and fifth of her Hancock career.

Walls posted career highs with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Valley Christian Academy graduate made five of her 11 shots from the field and went 3-for-3 from the line. The sophomore went 1-for-3 from 3-point range. She also had two blocked shots and three assists.

Beyers went 5-for-12 overall, including a 2-for-5 mark from 3-point range. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate pulled down 10 rebounds, all on the defensive end, to earn her second career double-double. She also tallied four assists.

Sophomore guard Taylor Lee-Hammer poured in 14 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field and a 6-for-8 performance from the free-throw line. Lee-Hammer added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Hancock shot 44.6 percent from the field by sinking 25 of its 58 shots. The Bulldogs made 12 of their 15 free throws for an 80 percent mark. After committing more than 30 turnovers in their season-opening loss, Hancock turned the ball over 20 times against L.A. Harbor.

Hancock returns to action Wednesday, Nov. 15, at Taft with a 6 p.m. tipoff.
