Despite 38 Points Combined From Beyers and Rosa, Hancock Falls 57-55 at Monterey Tournament

Despite 21 points from Grace Rosa and 18 by Karly Beyers, the Allan Hancock College women's basketball team dropped a 57-55 decision to Las Positas in the consolation semifinals of Monterey Peninsula's tournament Friday. The Bulldogs dropped their third in a row to fall to 6-6, while Las Positas improved to 2-9 and avenged an earlier loss this season to Hancock.

Hancock led19-14 after the first quarter and 27-22 at halftime. The Bulldogs led 43-33 to start the fourth quarter, but Las Positas outscored Hancock 24-12 in the final 10 minutes to pull out a come-from-behind victory.

Rosa hit 9-of-11 from the floor and all three of her free throws to finish with 21 points. The sophomore added three rebounds and two blocked shots.

Beyers went 4-for-5 from 3-point range and 6-for-13 overall from the floor. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate led the team with nine rebounds to go with four assists and two steals.

Anamarie Fruge finished with nine points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

The Bulldogs return to action Thursday, Dec. 28, against Mt. San Jacinto at a tournament hosted by Ventura College.
