SWARMING DEFENSE BY THE BULLDOGS HELPED DEFEAT TAFT IN HOME OPENER

Four Hancock players score in double-figures, while holding Taft to just 32% shooting, for an easy win against Taft College Wednesday evening.

This was the first home game of the season for the Bulldogs and would turn out to be a long night for Taft.

The Bulldogs started off hot, hitting 4 early three-pointers, by three different players, to take an early lead of 15-3.

It would only get worse from there. By halftime, the Bulldogs would build a lead of 20 points, up 34-14.

The Bulldogs offense exploded for 30-points in the 3rd quarter, pushing the lead to 30. The quarter was highlighted by a great play on both ends of the court by Tawny Lino. The sophomore guard dove on the floor for the steal then darted the full length of the court for the lay-up.

Taft would have no answer and the Bulldogs cruised to a 75-47 victory.

Lino would lead all scorers with 18 points, including 3 three-pointers. Freshman guard Danielle Morgan had a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Sophomore floor-general Kylie Mendez filled the stat line with 14 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 4 rebounds. And sophomore forward Tashara Pruett chipped in with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

The Bulldogs are now 2-0 and will travel to Reedley College on November 20th for their next game. Tip-off is at 3p.m.
