Bulldogs Snap Four-Game Slide, Top L.A. Southwest

Hancock College Women's Basketball started the new year off right with something they sorely needed, a victory.

The young Bulldogs move to 7-7 on the season after beating L.A. Southwest College 65-24 Saturday afternoon.

The win couldn't have come at a better time, as the injury and illness stricken Bulldogs have been on a 4-game slide.

The Bulldogs shot out of the gates early, scoring 20 points in the first quarter and holding the Cougars to just 6.

The second quarter would be more of the same, as the Bulldogs shot 55% from the three-point line and put up 26 points to the Cougars 8.

With a halftime score of 46-14, the undermanned Cougars, who only suited up 5 players, would not be able to recover.

The Bulldogs cruised to a 65-24 victory.

Head coach Cary Nerelli is glad to see the Bulldogs break out of their shooting woes but it was the Bulldog defense that made a huge impact, allowing only 7 offensive boards and forcing the Cougars into 29 turnovers.

Freshman guard Danielle Morgan, from Lompoc High School, led the way with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

The Bulldogs will host Bakersfield College on Jan. 12th. Tip-off is at 3pm.
