Bulldogs Finish Third at CRC Invitational, Bayne Lands on All-Tournament Team

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's basketball team opened the season with a third-place finish at the CRC Invitational, hosted by Consumnes River College. The Bulldogs opening contest of the tournament, originally slated to take place in a showdown versus the host, was cancelled due to COVID protocol issues with the Hawks. Jayci Bayne was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 18 points and 3.5 assists per game.

The Bulldogs (1-1) are set to return to action on Friday, November 12th, with a trip to LA Harbor. 


GAME ONE - WEST HILLS-LEMOORE def. ALLAN HANCOCK, 61-58 - BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs faced West Hills-Lemoore in the second round of the tournament after receiving a first round bye. Hancock opened the contest with a strong 18-7 showing in the first quarter and held a 30-19 advantage at the intermission. The Golden Eagles completed a comeback effort with a strong offensive surge in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 42-28 through the final two frames.

Both teams finished the contest with a 33 percent shooting performance from the floor and 40 rebounds apiece. Bayne led the Bulldogs with 22 points after going 6-for-16 from the field and 7-for-9 from the charity stripe. Jewelia Mannis (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Kayla Taylor (10 points, 11 rebounds)  also finished the contest with double-double performances while Alijah Paquet notched a team-high of four assists. 


GAME TWO - ALLAN HANCOCK def. SOLANO, 54-37 - BOX SCORE

Hancock opened the game with a 6-0 run through the first five minutes of action, but closed the quarter with a two-point deficit after the Falcons offense heated up. Teams continued to exchange baskets through the second frame, but a three-point shot from Alijah Paquet in the final minute gave the Bulldogs a two-point advantage at the intermission. Hancock closed the contest with a solid defensive showing that limited the Falcons to just 11 points through the final two quarters.

Bayne and Taylor led the offense with 14 points each, followed by Alijah Paquet's 11-point performance. Carlissa Solorio entered off the bench and led the team with 12 rebounds while Taylor notched her second double-double of the season after nabbing 10 boards.
