Women's Basketball: Jayci Bayne Inks with Cal Poly Humboldt

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College women's basketball standout, Jayci Bayne, has committed to continuing his academic and athletic career at Cal Poly Humboldt next season.

"This is the first time I'll be away from home so it was really important to me to choose a school where I felt like I would have a second family. The Cal Poly Humboldt coaches consistently made me feel like a top priority for them," shared Bayne. "They also have an amazing basketball program, as well as great academics offered at their school."

Bayne closed her career with the Bulldogs as one of the most decorated women's basketball players in program history this season. In March, the Arroyo Grande native became the first women's basketball student-athlete on record since the early 90s to receive an All-State nod after being named to the Second Team. The two-time All-Conference honoree finished the season averaging 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. She also became the newest member of the 1,000-point club after tallying 1,060 points through 57 games in her Hancock career.

"Playing at AHC has helped me tremendously, not only with basketball and academics but also with just growing and maturing so much as a person," added Bayne. "I was surrounded by so many people who wanted to see me succeed and pushed me to get there every single day. The coaches here saw what I saw in myself and made sure to get me to where I am today. I don't think I would be the basketball player or person I am today if I had not come to Hancock back in 2019."

Cal Poly Humboldt, located in Arcata, is a Division II member of the NCAA and competes in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
