Bio

Cantrell begins his second season as head coach of the Allan Hancock College women’s soccer program. Following his inaugural season with the Bulldogs, three of his players signed athletic scholarships to Waldorf University. Bonnie Zuniga, Heidi Cortez and Celeste Sanchez became the first Hancock women’s soccer players to earn scholarships to four-year universities in four years.

Cantrell has nearly 30 years of coaching experience, including a decade as head coach of the varsity girl's soccer team at Santa Ynez High School. Cantrell spent two seasons as an assistant coach of the Hancock women's soccer team in 2011-12.

"As a Hancock graduate, I am happy to return to help soccer athletes on the Central Coast receive the best possible education and pursue an opportunity to play soccer at a four-year university," said Cantrell.

Cantrell developed a dynasty at Santa Ynez High School. He has led the Pirates to nine Los Padres Legue championships, and six CIF quarterfinal appearances. He has an overall record of 146-62-20 with the Pirates. Prior to SYHS, Cantrell coached boy's varsity soccer at Bishop Diego High School and served as the director of coaching for Madrid Premier Soccer Club.
