Bramble, Nelson Win Events, Bulldogs Finish Fourth at WSC Meet #3

Leanna Bramble and Bailey Nelson both won events to pace the Allan Hancock College women's swim team to a fourth place finish at the third Western State Conference Meet of the season on Friday. Santa Barbara City College hosted the meet at San Marcos High School.

The host Vaqueros won the event with 164 points followed by Cuesta (125), Santa Monica (94) in third place. Canyons finished in fifth place with 46 points.

Bramble, a freshman and Orcutt Academy graduate, won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.45. She also finished second in the 200 yard individual medley event with a time of 2:15.09. Bramble improved her personal-best times in both events by nearly two seconds.

Nelson won the 1,000 yard freestyle with a school record time of 12:29.79 which represented a 21 second improvement from her previous best time.

Sarah Rayco-Rosado finished second in the 500 yard freestyle (5:52.18) and 100 butterfly (1:05.71). The freshman improved her previous best time by four seconds in the 100 fly and nearly seven seconds in the 500 free.

Lizzy Combs placed sixth in the 50 free with a personal-best time of 30.82 seconds.

The Bulldogs finished third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:03.43, and placed fourth in the 400 free relay (4:30.69). 

Hancock competes in the WSC Championships on April 17 at L.A. Pierce.
