Bramble Qualifies for Three Events at CCCAA State Championships

The Hancock women's swim program will be represented at the CCCAA State Championships by sophomore Leanna Bramble. The Orcutt Academy graduate won two individual titles, the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events, at the Western State Conference Championships earlier this month. Bramble qualified for three events at the State Championships: the 500 yard freestyle, 100 yard breaststroke, and 200 yard breaststroke. Bramble's top time in the 500 free of 5:21.45 ranks ninth out of the 23 swimmers qualified for the event. She ranks seventh out of 20 in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.75. Bramble ranks third out of the 21 women in the 200 breaststroke at 2:26.19.

Bramble will compete in one event per day during the three-day meet. Swimmers must compete in the morning preliminary session and qualify for the evening final in each event. East Los Angeles will host the event in Monterey Park.

Last year, Bramble was Hancock's lone representative at the State Championships. She finished seventh in the 100 breaststroke, tenth in the 100 yard individual medley and 13th in the 200 yard individual medley. She helped Hancock finish 24th out of the 48 teams competing at the meet.
