Bramble Earns All-American Status in Three Events

Allan Hancock College swimmer Leanna Bramble added another postseason accolade to her impressive resume. The sophomore has been recognized as a three-time All-American by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), and the National Junior College.

Bramble ranked ninth in the state and 16th in the nation in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:20.27. The top 16 in the state and in the country received All-American status in each event. The Orcutt Academy graduate ranked fifth in the state and seventh in the nation in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.18. Her time of 2:26.19 in the 200 breaststroke also ranked fifth in California and ninth in the nation.

Bramble signed a letter of intent last month to swim at Whitworth University, a Division III program located in in Spokane, Washington. She became the first Hancock swimmer in program history to sign with a four-year university.

Bramble ended her historic Hancock career with two top five finishes during the CCCAA State Championships. Bramble owns 11 school records and was a five-time Western State Conference champion. She also holds two conference records.

She earned All-American status in four events as a freshman during the 2014 season.
