Hancock Wins Six Events, Tops Clovis in Program's First Dual Meet Victory

Allan Hancock College women six of eight events catapulting the Bulldogs to a 102-72 win in a dual meet with Clovis Community College on Thursday afternoon at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center. The victory was the first dual meet win in the program's three-year history.

The Bulldogs won both relay events, the 200 yard medley with a time of 2:04.33, and the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:53.33. Hancock edged Clovis in the free relay by 0.51 second. The Bulldogs won the 200 medley relay by nine seconds.

Hancock freshman Madalena Diaz won the 1000 yard freestyle event with a time of 11:39.06, nearly a second off the program record she set last week. Diaz touched the wall 98 seconds before the second place swimmer from Clovis.

Alexandria Kwong won the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 28.55 seconds. Diaz placed third in 31.39 and Nikki Gurgiolo finished fourth in 31.52. The Orcutt Academy graduate later won the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:04.63.

Rebecca Gonzalez, a Nipomo High School graduate, won the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 33.78 seconds. The freshman won by nearly six seconds. Gonzalez also finished second in the 100 I.M. with a time of 1:13.18.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday and Saturday at the Cuesta Invite.
