Diaz Wins Two Events at Chabot Invitational

Madalena Diaz won two events, and Alexandria Kwong posted three finishes in the top four to highlight the Allan Hancock College women's swim team's effort during the Chabot College Invitational on Saturday.

Diaz won the 1,650-yard freestyle event by nearly two minutes with a time of 19:27.48. The freshman also won the 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 5:35.03. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate finished sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:10.66.

Kwong finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.53. She placed third in the 200-yard individual medley when she was clocked in 2:17.66. The Orcutt Academy graduate also finished fourth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.26.

Rebecca Gonzalez finished fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke event with a time of 2:36.69. Brannica Casabar finished eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.30.

The team of Kwong (backstroke), Gonzalez (breaststroke), Nikki Gurgiolo (butterfly) and Casabar (freestyle) led the Bulldogs to a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:04.78.

After the non-scoring meet, the Bulldogs will return to action April 21-23 at the Western State Conference Championships. The three-day meet will be hosted by Cuesta College.
