Gurgiolo and Gonzalez Finish in Top Five at WSC Diving Championships

Allan Hancock College sophomores Nikki Gurgiolo and Rebecca Gonzalez earned top-five finishes in the 1-meter diving at the Western State Conference Diving Championships on Friday at El Camino College.  The meet also served as the Southern California Regional Diving Championships.

Gurgiolo finished fourth among WSC divers and 13th in the SoCal Region with a total score of 109.30. 

Gonzalez racked up a total score of 84.10 to finish fifth in conference and 18th in the region.

Santa Barbara City College's Gina Jacobson won the conference title and finished second in the region with a score of 225.10.
Gurgiolo will compete in the 3-meter diving final on Saturday.

Gonzalez and Gurgiolo combined to earn 29 points for the Bulldogs toward the overall team standings. The diving scores will be added to the swimming portion of next week's Western State Conference Championships that will be hosted by Hancock.

The 2017 Western State Conference Championships will take place at the Paul Nelson Aquatic Center in Santa Maria next Thursday through Saturday, April 20-22. The competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. each day. The Bulldogs finished fourth at least year's WSC Championships.
