Fraire Wins Twice During WSC#1

Freshman Izzie Fraire won two events to lead the Allan Hancock College women's swimming and diving team's effort during the first Western State Conference Invitational of the season on Friday. The Bulldogs finished fourth overall with 28 total points during the five-team meet hosted by Ventura College.

Fraire finished first in the women's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.99, nearly 13 seconds ahead of the runner-up. She also placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:10.31 to win by nearly three seconds. With two first-place finishes, Fraire earned 18 points for the Bulldogs in the team standings.

Freshman Helen Frazer finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:14.32, shaving more than five seconds off her season-best time to earn three points. She also placed fourth in the 100 fly with a time of 1:09.21. She earned five points for Hancock.

Anika Smith placed fifth in both the 1,650 free and 100 backstroke to earn a combined two points. Kaila Guillemin secured three points for the Bulldogs with a time of 22:31.05 and a third-place finish in the 1650 freestyle event.

Hancock returns to action next week at the Cuesta Invitational.
