Fraire Finishes Sixth Overall at WSC Pentathlon

Freshman Izzie Fraire won one event and finished sixth out of nearly 70 swimmers overall during the Western State Conference Pentathlon women's swimming event held at the Ventura Aquatic Center. During the event, each swimmer competes in five 100-yard events.

The Righetti High School graduate posted the fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke by touching the wall in 1:10.62, about four seconds faster than the runner-up to earn 20 points. Later, she placed sixth in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:08.05 for 13 points, seventh in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.15 to earn 12 points, tenth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.66, and 11th in the 100-free with a time of 1:00.33 for another 5.5 pointOn the day, Fraire racked up 57.5 points, 4.5 behind Shayna Simmer of Santa Monica, who placed fifth.

Hancock freshman Helen Frazer earned seven points by placing 10th in the 100-butterfly with a time of 1:07.60.

Caitlin Hecker of L.A. Valley won four events to take the season-opening pentathlon with 94 points. Sofia Terry of Cuesta finished second with 73 points. Maggie Ewens of Santa Monica finished third with 71 points and Santa Barbara City College's Sarah Parson placed fourth with 63 points.
