Seven Hancock Track and Field Athletes Qualify for SoCal Regionals
    Freshman Douglas Webb (Ocala, FL) led the pack for the Bulldogs at the Western State Conference finals track meet on Friday, April 30. Webb qualified for the Southern California Regionals in four events, the 200-meter race (21.39), 100-meter (10.69), triple jump (46-0) and the long jump (22-9). Webb, originally from Ocala, Florida, is also a defensive back on the Allan Hancock College football team. 

    Joining Webb at regionals from the men’s team will be sophomore Shane Soden (Orcutt, CA ), freshman Jay-Ar Agapay (Maui, HI), sophomore Keenan Smith (Santa Maria, CA ), and the member’s of Hancock’s two relay teams. Soden and Smith both qualified in the 400-meter hurdles, Smith at 56.85 and Soden with a time of 54.2 seconds. Soden also qualified in the pole vault (12-7). Agapay is moving forward in the high jump (6-5), and freshman Reginald Williams (Hampton, VA) qualified in the long jump (21-10). 

    Hancock’s 400-meter relay team of Soden, Webb, Williams and freshman Larry Greene (Ocala) moved forward with a time of 42.11. The 1600-meter relay team of Soden, Smith, Greene and Webb finished seventh and will advance. On the women’s side freshman Britanie Smith (Santa Maria, CA) advanced in the long jump (16-11) and the triple jump (37-0). 

    The Southern California Regional track meet will take place May 14-15 at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, Calif.
