Batty Wins Long Jump, Goggins and Wulfestieg Finish Runner-Up at WSC North Meet

Allan Hancock College freshman Haleigh Batty won her fifth women's long jump competition of the season, while Destiny Goggins and Ben Wulfestieg both finished runner-up in the shot put for the Bulldogs during the Western State Conference North Meet on Friday at Cuesta College. The Hancock men's and women's track and field teams earned 12 top-seven finishes combined on the day.

Batty won the women's long jump with a top mark of 18 feet, seven inches. The Cabrillo High School graduate finished first for the fifth time in seven meets this season. She has outjumped every athlete from a two- or four-year institution this year, finishing runner-up twice to a professional athlete competing unattached in meets. Batty also finished fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 86 feet, eight inches.

Goggins, a Lompoc High School graduate, finished second in the women's shot put with a mark of 33-3 and fifth in the hammer throw with a top throw of 83-10.

Freshman Cherry Inay finished fourth in the 100 high hurdles, crossing the finish line in 17.34 seconds. The Pioneer Valley High school graduate also placed seventh in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:14. Freshman Amaris Baxter, a Nipomo High School graduate, placed sixth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.22 seconds and sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 19.00 seconds.

Freshman middle distance runner Yadira Castellanos, a Lompoc High School graduate, finished fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:08.68.

On the men's side, Wulfestieg, a sophomore thrower and Cabrillo High School graduate, finished runner-up in the men's shot put with a toss of 41-2. He also placed third in the javelin throw with a mark of 140 feet.

Sophomore Nate Tulloch, a Cabrillo High School graduate, earned a seventh-place finish in the javelin throw with a mark off 111 feet and seven inches.

The Bulldogs will compete at the Glendale Invitational next Saturday, April 7.
