Farley and Lecates Lead Bulldogs to 3-1 Win Over Rival Cuesta

The Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team snapped a five-match losing streak and picked up its first conference win of the season with a 3-1 win over Central Coast rival Cuesta College on Friday night in Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. Hancock won 18-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 26-24.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-11 overall and 1-4 in Western State Conference action. The Cougars fell to 5-10 in conference and 1-3 in league matches.

Sophomore outside hitter Brianna Farley led the Bulldogs with 21 kills on 57 swings for a .263 kill percentage. The Cabrillo High School graduate added 15 digs. Middle blocker Gabrielle Lecates added 16 kills on 41 swings. She added seven digs and four blocks.
Sophomore setter Nikki Friend dished out 40 assists and 16 digs. Cristine Flores led Hancock with 26 digs, while Rebecca Davis added 24. Brittany Bolusan, a freshman and Lompoc High School graduate, added five kills and four aces.
The Bulldogs play at L.A. Pierce on Wednesday, October 22, at 7 p.m. in a conference. The Brahmas are coming off a sweep of Cuesta and will enter 10-7 overall and 2-2 in WSC action.
