Hancock Volleyball Sweeps West L.A. to Stay Undefeated at Home

Behind a career-high nine kills from freshman Jasmine Hernandez and eight more from Chyanne Thomas, the Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team swept West Los Angeles College in three straight sets on Wednesday evening in Joe White Memorial Gymnasium. The Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats 25-14, 25-22 and 25-10 to improve to 2-0 at home and 3-7 overall. West L.A. dropped to 4-5 overall.

Hernandez, a Santa Maria High School graduate, collected her nine kills on 14 swings. Thomas, a Lompoc High School graduate and freshman outside hitter, had eight kills on 26 attempts. Sophomore Brittany Bolusan added seven kills, three aces and two blocks.
Nipomo High School graduate Taylor Nevitt contributed five kills and nine digs. Sophomore libero and Pioneer Valley High School graduate Cristine Flores added nine digs, two kills and four aces. Sophomore setter Rebecca Davis dished out 28 assists.
The Bulldogs, who have won two of their last three matches overall, return to the court on Saturday, October 3, when they travel to California Lutheran to take on the junior varsity squad at noon. Hancock opens Western State Conference play next Wednesday, Oct. 7, at home against Moorpark at 6 p.m.
