Career Nights From Nevitt, Thomas and Reynolds Lead Bulldogs To Thrilling 3-2 Win At Cuesta

Freshman Taylor Nevitt pounded a match-high 18 kills and Chyanne Thomas recorded a career-high 12 to lead the Allan Hancock College women's volleyball team to a 3-2 come-from-behind conference win at Cuesta College on Wednesday evening. The Bulldogs captured their first Western State Conference victory of the season in thrilling fashion, 25-22, 20-25, 21-25, 25-23 and 18-16. Hancock improved to 1-4 in conference and 4-12 overall. Cuesta dropped to 0-5 in WSC action and 6-13 on the season.

Nevitt collected her 18 kills on 41 swings to go with nine digs and two blocks. The match marked her fifth as a Bulldog with 10 or more kills and topped her previous career high by five.

Thomas had 12 kills on 44 swings along with 17 digs. The Lompoc High School graduate recorded double-digit kills for the third time in her career. Sophomore setter Rebecca Davis compiled 32 assists and 24 digs, while freshman Jourdan Reynolds played masterful defense to collect a career-high 31 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Brittany Bolusan added six kills, three aces and three solo blocks.

Gabby David had 15 kills and 18 digs, while Kelsey Lowe had 14 kills, 20 assists and 11 digs to lead the Cougars.

Hancock returns home to host LA Pierce on Friday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m. The Brahmas are the top ranked team in the state.
