Hancock Volleyball Serves Up Second Half Of Conference Friday At Moorpark

The women's volleyball team will begin the second half of Western State Conference play this week with a match on Friday, October 30, at Moorpark College at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs fell 3-0 at home in their conference opener to Moorpark earlier this month.

Hancock is coming off a successful week that included the team's first conference win of the season, a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Cuesta College last Wednesday. Freshman middle blocker Taylor Nevitt (Nipomo HS) collected a career-high 18 kills, while Chyanne Thomas (Lompoc HS) added a career-high 12 kills and 17 digs. Sophomore setter Rebecca Davis (Lompoc HS) dished out 32 assists to go with 24 digs, while freshman Jourdan Reynolds (Nipomo HS) collected a career-high 31 digs.

Hancock ended last week with a 3-0 loss to LA Pierce, the top ranked team in the state. Thomas led the Bulldogs with eight kills and 11 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Brittany Bolusan (Lompoc HS) added seven kills.

Moorpark enters the week 2-4 in conference and 6-10 overall. The Raiders lost in four sets last week to LA Mission and fell in five to Cuesta. Freshman Meghan Conlan leads the Raiders with 163 kills this season, while Cindy Norris ranks second with 160.  Conlan had 14 kills and Norris added 10 with 21 digs in Moorpark's win at Hancock earlier this month. Nevitt led the Bulldogs with 13 kills in that match, while Thomas added 10 more.
