Hancock Water Polo Wins Two at Ventura College Tournament

The Allan Hancock College women's water polo team picked up two wins at the Ventura College Tournament, which was held Oct. 6-7. 

Hancock opened the tournament with a 13-4 loss to Fullerton College. Makena Blanco, Alicia Reyes, Meagan Coyne and Shannon Copeland each scored a goal for the Bulldogs. 

The team bounced back in the second game with a 9-8 win over Palomar College. Coyne led the way with four goals, two assists and three steals. Copeland added three goals, and Blanco scored twice. Goal keeper Shay McMann had 14 saves during the match. 

"I feel really good about where the team is right now," said Hancock head coach Dominique Miller. "We won the games we should have." 

Hancock opened the second day of the tournament with a 13-3 win over El Camino College. Seven different Bulldogs scored during the match – Coyne, Blanco, Reyes, Ambria Eidson, Maddison Stangl, Ellyn Clardy and Maribel Morales. McMann finished the game with 10 saves. 

The Bulldogs finished the tournament with a 15-6 loss to Mt. San Antonio College. Copeland scored two goals, while Reyes, Blanco, Clardy and Coyne each added a goal in the game. 

The team is now 7-12 on the season, and next play in the Citrus College Tournament Oct. 13-14.
