Hancock Cross Country Heads to SoCal Regional Championships on Friday

The Hancock women's cross country team will compete at the CCCAA Southern California Regional Cross Country Championships on Friday, Nov. 3. The regional will take place at Central Park in Santa Clarita. The women's 5K will begin at 10 a.m. The Bulldogs, who received an at-large berth are sending a team to regionals for the first time since 2008.

The last time out, Hancock finished tenth at the Western State Conference Championships in Bakersfield. Hancock's top-four finishers were all freshmen. Brianna Magana (Righetti HS) finished 32nd overall with a time of 20:48, followed by Alina Delabra (Pioneer Valley HS) in 49th (22:44), Elisa Garcia (Santa Maria HS) in 60th (23:27), and Cherry Inay (Pioneer Valley HS) in 66th place (23:50).

The top-14 teams from the South Regional will qualify for the CCCAA State Championship that will take place November 18 in Fresno. Individual qualifiers may also advance to the state meet if they finish in the top half of all finishers at regionals and their teams did not advance to state.
