Women's Cross Country Ranked Fifth in Latest Coaches' Poll

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College women's cross country program continues to raise the bar with new milestones on an already historic season. 

The Bulldogs were tabbed at No. 5 in the latest edition of the 5CTCA Women's Cross Country SoCal Coaches' Poll, announced by the state office on October 2nd. Mt. San Antonio was ranked as the top team in the region with San Diego Mesa, Riverside City, and Glendale following behind. Saddleback was also placed in a tie for fifth with Coach Youngblood's crew. 

The team has also seen a number of athletes excel on the individual level in what appears to be the most successful season in at least three decades. Itandehui Olea has led the way for the program after earning a top-five finish in all six races thus far, including two first place performances and a 5CTCA Runner of the Week nod at the state level. Eva Luu and Maraitzel Moreno Gutierrez have also shined as individuals with five and three top-10 showings, respectively. 

Other programs from the Western State Conference mentioned in the SoCal Poll include No. 8 Oxnard, No. 10 Canyons, No. 11 Ventura, and No. 13 Moorpark. 

The Bulldogs will return to action on October 20th at the Western State Conference Finals. Results from that meet and the WSC Preview, which the Bulldogs placed second at last month, will be combined to determine the conference champion.
