Allan Hancock College announced its best and brightest student-athletes during the 2018-19 Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table's (NSBCART) Hall of Fame and Scholarship Banquet in mid-May.
Running back Ryheem Skinner was named Male Athlete of the Year. The sophomore earned Pacific League Offensive Player of the Year and All-State honors his sophomore season after ranking fourth in the state with 1,294 rushing yards. He ranked sixth in the state with 14 rushing touchdowns. He scored at least one touchdown in 10 games, helping the Bulldogs win back-to-back league titles for the first time in 57 years. Hancock finished 10-1 and won the American Championship Bowl.

Male Athlete of the Year Female Athlete of the Year
Freshman swimmer Izzie Fraire took home Female Athlete of the Year honors. She was a three-time All-American, three-time Western State Conference champion, and state champion in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Righetti High School graduate set three school records during the 2019 CCCAA State Championships, adding a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and second-place finish in the 200-individual medley.
Glenn Jordan and Kiesa Romero were recognized as Hancock's Student-Athletes of the Year. Jordan, a two-time All-Conference guard, has signed with the University of Mary, a Division II program. Jordan averaged a team-high 12.0 points per game as a sophomore, leading the Bulldogs to their second straight 23-win season. Romero earned a spot on the 2018-19 CCCWBCA Academic All-State Team with a 3.60 cumulative GPA. The Nipomo High School graduate averaged 2.5 points per game for the women's basketball team. She is transferring to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo next fall to pursued a degree in business.

Scholar-Athlete of the Year Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Baseball player Ismael Hernandez and women's basketball player Tashara Pruett received the annual Jim Glines Scholarship Award. Pruett averaged 7.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lompoc native, a proud mother to Anayah, will transfer to a four-year university next year to pursue a nursing degree. Hernandez has committed to play at Campbellsville University. The Cabrillo High School graduate hit .295 with 24 RBI and a team-high 39 hits this spring. He also went 3-4 with a 3.90 ERA and a conference-leading four saves. He finished his Hancock career with 41 games pitched, which ranks No. 2 in program history.

April 29-May 5: Izzie Fraire, Women's Swimming: Fraire turned in a historic performance during the 2019 CCCAA Swim and Dive State Championships. She set three school records, won three medals, and earned three top-four finishes, including Hancock’s first ever individual state swimming title. Fraire started the three-day meet by finishing second in the 200-yard individual medley with a school record time of 2:09.79. The Righetti High School graduate finished fourth the following day in the 100 breaststroke with a record time of 1:04.89. She ended the weekend with a blazing time of 2:19.62 to win a tight race and capture the state title in the 200-yard breaststroke, the first in program history.
April 22-28: Crystal Gonzales, Softball: Gonzales went 2-for-2 with a triple, two RBI, three runs scored, and drew three walks in the softball team’s 13-1 win at Oxnard to close the 2019 season. She ended the season on an eight-game hitting streak, going 15-for-24 with five doubles, one home run, nine RBI, six walks, and 13 runs scored during that stretch. The Righetti High School graduate earned All-Conference First Team honors for the second straight season after leading the Bulldogs in every major offensive category: .406 batting average, 29 runs, 41 hits, 29 RBI, three home runs, 13 doubles, four triples, and 21 walks.
April 15-21: Izzie Fraire, Women's Swimming: Allan Hancock College swimmer Izzie Fraire completed a Western State Conference title trifecta during the 2019 Western State Conference Swimming Championships at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center. Fraire ended her historic weekend by winning the 200-yard breaststroke final with a personal-best time of 2:23.55 on Saturday. Fraire was named the Western State Conference’s Co-Swimmer of the Year. She joined Alexandria Kwong (2016 and 2017) and Bramble (2014) as the only Hancock swimmers to capture three conference titles in one year. The Righetti High School graduate won the women’s 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.11, breaking the meet and the school on Friday. She started the meet Thursday by breaking the school record and taking the title in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.99.
April 8-14: Kailey Roux, Women’s Swimming and Diving: Roux, a sophomore diver finished second in both the 1- and 3-meter diving finals at last week’s Western State Conference Diving Championships. She earned 34 points for the Bulldogs in the team standings of the conference finals. The meet also served as the Southern California Diving Championships. Roux finished fifth in the region in the 1-meter and fourth in the 3-meter to automatically qualify in both events for next month’s 2019 CCCAA State Championships.
April 1 -7: Izzie Fraire, Women's Swimming: Fraire won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:23.65 on Saturday at the 19th annual Pasadena Invitational. The performance broke Hancock, meet, and pool records. The Righetti High School graduate’s time broke the previous Hancock record of 2:26.19 set by Leanna Bramble in 2015. Fraire also earned three third-place finishes with times of 2:15.68 in the 200-yard individual medley, 1:08.01 in the 100-yard breaststroke, and 4:50.93 in the 400-yard individual medley. Fraire helped Hancock finish fifth overall in the team standings out of 16 women's programs froma across the state.
Mar. 25-31: Davina Valerio, Women's Track and Field: Valerio earned four top-four finishes during the Western State Conference Coastal Meet hosted by Cuesta College. The freshman cleared 16 feet, 2.25 inches for a second-place finish in the women's long jump competition to earn eight points for Hancock. She placed fourth in the women's high jump with a top clearance of 4 feet, 5 inches to earn four points, and scored seven more by tying for second in the pole vault by clearing eight feet, 11.75 inches. Valerio also finished 10th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.12 seconds. The Pioneer Valley High School graduate racked up 19 points for the Bulldogs in field events.
Mar. 18-24: Zach Rudd, Baseball: The sophomore went 4-for-10 with 6 RBI, one home run. and one double over three games for the Bulldogs. Hancock went 2-1 during the week to claim first place in the Western State Conference standings with a 6-3 record.
Mar. 11-17: Davina Valerio, Women's Track and Field: Valerio won the women's high high jump with a height of 4ft 4 inches and the pole vault event with 9ft 1 1/2 inches during the Bakersfield Relays over the weekend. Earlier this season, Valerio also earned 2nd place honors in the high jump event at the Bakersfield Battle of the Regions.

Jan. 28-Feb. 3: Glenn Jordan, Men's Basketball: Glenn Jordan is on fire on the court and in the classroom! The sophomore guard is averaging just over 20 ppg in the Bulldogs last three matchups. Most recently, knocking down 5 three-pointers for 17 points and also recorded 4 assists and 4 rebounds against Moorpark College. Jordan, who earned all-conference honorable mention as a freshman last season, is averaging 11.2 ppg this season and shooting 36% from the three point line. Not only that, Jordan is getting it done in the classroom, achieving a 4.0 GPA this last Fall.
Jan. 21-27: Tashara Pruett, Women's Basketball: Pruett is coming off a monster rebounding game, where she snatched down 15 rebounds and also scored 9 points in the Bulldogs win against Bakersfield College. Pruett is a among the team's leading rebounders this season averaging 7 a game. Pruett was a two-time All-League First Team selection for Lompoc High School. She averaged 10 points and 11 rebounds as a senior to help the Braves reach the second round of the CIF playoffs. Pruett is equally as impressive in classroom, earning a 4.0 GPA in the fall.
Nov. 12-16: Isabella Albano, Women's Volleyball: Standing at just 5’2” sophomore libero Isabella Albano is playing like a giant. Her 5.5 digs per set lead the Western State Conference and rank fifth in the state. Albano is all-conference at libero but also excels as an outside hitter, opposite, or even setter. Tough and dependable, Albano has never missed a match and was unanimously voted as team captain by her peers. Off the court, Albano is just as impressive, achieving a 3.9 GPA.
Oct. 8-14: Tatiana Silva, Women's Soccer: Sophomore middle-fielder Tatiana Silva is currently leading the Bulldogs women’s soccer team with 7 goals, including a 3-goal effort against West L.A. College. Silva is also a part of the Hancock College Athletic Training team, assisting during other Hancock Colleg sporting events. Silva was a two-time all-league soccer and volleyball player for Nipomo High School. She plans to transfer to a four-year university to become an athletic trainer.
Sept. 17-23: Ryheem Skinner, Football: Sophomore running back Ryheem Skinner is currently leading the state of California in rushing yards, racking up 374 total rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in the first two games of the 2018 season. Last season, Skinner led the Bulldogs in total rushing yards with 749 and punched in 7 touchdowns in his freshman debut. In a game against L.A. Valley College, Skinner exploded for a 90 yard run, the longest of his career. He will be put to the test this Saturday as Hancock will host West L.A. College at 2 p.m.
2017-18 HANCOCK STUDENT-ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
May 14-20: Haleigh Batty, Women's Track and Field: Freshman Bailey Killough finished third in the women's high jump final to earn All-American status during the 2018 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Track and Field State Championships. Her top jump was 18 feet, 6.5 inches to finish third out 12 women for the highest finish in 13 years by a Hancock female student-athlete at the state meet.
April 30 - May 6: Kailey Roux, Women's Swimming and Diving: Freshman diver Kailey Roux finished ninth in the 1-meter final and 10th in the 3-meter final during the 2018 California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Swimming and Diving Championships. She became the second diver in program history to qualify for the state meet and earned the highest finishes by a Bulldog diver. The Western State Conference champion and only Hancock representative at the state meet earned 16 points for the Bulldogs for a 27th-place overall in the team standings.
April 23-29: Bailey Killough, Softball: Sophomore Bailey Killough saved the best game in her Hancock career for last. The Arroyo Grande High School graduate went 5-for-5, hit for the cycle, slugged two home runs and finished with 10 RBI in the Bulldogs' 25-2 win in five innings over Oxnard. She hit a three-run home run and a grand slam. Killough also threw a complete game, striking out nine and allowing just four hits to earn the victory in the circle. A few days later, Killough was named the Western State Conference's Player of the Year and named to the All-State Team. She finished the season hitting .430 with eight home runs and 52 RBI. She also went 11-5 in the circle with 86 strikeouts and a 2.70 ERA.
April 16-22: Jake Shusterich, Baseball: Freshman Jake Shusterich earned his second Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award after going 5-for-5 with 2 RBI, a double, triple and scored twice to help the baseball team win 8-3 at Ventura to stay in contention for the Western State Conference title.
April 9-15: Kailey Roux, Women's Swimming and Diving: Freshman Kailey Roux earns his first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award after becoming the first diver in program history to win a Western State Conference title. Roux won the 3-meter diving final by 66 points with a final score of 181.65. She also finished seventh overall in the Southern California Regional to qualify for the CCCAA State Championships. Roux finished runner-up in the conference's 1-meter diving final and 10th in the region.
April 2-8: Haleigh Batty, Women's Track and Field: Freshman Haleigh Batty earns her fourth Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award after smashing her own school record in the long jump by 9.5 inches. She won the 18th annual Vaquero Classic hosted by Glendale College by clearing 19'7.25" in the women's high jump. She also owns the college record in the women's high jump of 5'1.75".
March 26 - April 1: Ismael Hernandez, Baseball: Freshman Ismael Hernandez earned his first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week honor for his heroics on the diamond. Hernandez delivered a two-out, two-run walk-off single to lift the Hancock baseball team to a thrilling 9-8 come-from-behind win over No. 11 Fresno City during the Bulldogs' Spring Classic. He helped the Bulldogs eliminate 6-1 and 8-4 deficits. Over three games, Hernandez went 7-for-13 with 4 RBI. The Cabrillo High School graduate also earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of shutout relief in the Bulldogs' 7-4 win over East Los Angeles.
March 19 - 25: Haleigh Batty, Women's Track and Field: Freshman Haleigh Batty broke a school record for the second straight week to lead a contingent of Allan Hancock College track and field athletes March 24 at the Cal Poly Invitational. Batty, who broke a 24-year-old record in the women's high jump last week, entered the record books in the long jump. The Cabrillo High School graduate cleared 18 feet, 9.75 inches in the long jump to finish second in a field of 25 athletes from two- and four- year colleges and the professional ranks. She topped 19 athletes from four-year programs. Batty broke the previous record set in 2009 by Kenna Wolter of 18-7.5
March 12 - 18: Haleigh Batty, Women's Track and Field: Hancock women's track and field athlete Haleight Batty won her second Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award. The freshman won two individual events and broke a college record during the Bakersfield Relays on March 17. Batty won the women's high jump and long jump competitions. The Cabrillo High School graduate won her fourth long jump competition of the season with a mark of 18 feet, one inch. The freshman cleared 5-1.75 to win the women's high jump event for the second time this year. She broke the program record of 5-1 that was set back in 1994.
March 5 - 11: Nic Cardinal, Baseball: Sophomore right-handed pitcher Nic Cardinal earns his first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week Award. Cardinal struck out a career-high 11 batters and improved to 4-1 on the season during HAncock's 9-5 win over Santa Barbara City College in the Bulldogs' conference opener. He scattered eight hits, two walks and allowed three runs. He struck out at least one hitter every inning, including the side in the fourth to account for his season-high 11 punchouts.
February 26 - March 4: Shane Carney, Men's Basketball: Hancock men's basketball player Shane Carney has earned his third Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season. The sophomore scored a career-high 32 points in Hancock's thrilling 91-90 double-overtime win at San Bernardino in the regional finals of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) South Regional. Carney hit a layup with five seconds remaining in overtime to tie the game and force a second overtime. He buried a 3-pointer and hit three free throws to help the Bulldogs build a five-point lead in the extra period. He went 9-for-11 from the free-throw line in the game and hit 3-of-14 from beyond-the-arc. Carney added five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Carney also scored his 1,000th career point in his Hancock career. He already owns the program record for most 3-pointers made in a single-season (98) and career 3-pointers made (156). The Bulldogs play San Francisco (30-1), the No. 1 team in the North Region, in the State Championship Tournament quarterfinals at 7 p.m. on Friday at Ventura College.
February 19-25: Devin Davis, Men's Basketball: Devin Davis picked up the Hancock offense when the Bulldogs needed it the most during the team's 70-67 overtime win at Fullerton in the second round of the CCCAA Southern Regionals. The sophomore scored a game-high 24 points in the victory. Davis scored 12 points in the first half to help the cold-shooting Bulldogs stay in the game and trail by only two points at halftime. He finished 12-for-16 from the field and pulled down eight rebounds to help the Bulldogs win their first playoff game since 2001 and advance to the Regional Finals.
February 12 - 18: Jake Shusterich, Baseball: Jake Shusterich earned his first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award after helping the Bulldogs sweep a weekend series with Irvine Valley. The freshman went 3-for-5 with one home run, 4 RBI and two runs scored in the Bulldogs’ 11-9 win in the series opener. He followed that with a 1-for-5 effort that included his second three-run home run in as many days and 4 RBI. He also earned a save with three innings of shutout relief. The right-handed pitcher struck out two in the Bulldogs’ 9-1 win. He finished the two-game series 4-for-10 with two home runs, 8 RBI and four runs scored.
February 5 - Feb. 11: Haleigh Batty, Women's Track and Field:
Freshman Haleigh Batty enjoyed an impressive debut for the Allan Hancock College track and field team last Friday as the Bulldogs opened the 2018 season at the Battle of Regions Meet hosted by Bakersfield College. She earned three of the Bulldogs' eight top-five finishes on the day. Batty won the women's long jump with a top mark of 18 feet, four inches. The Cabrillo High School graduate finished second in the high jump by clearing 5-2. She also came in fifth in the javelin throw with a top mark of 69-4.
January 29 -February 4: Bailey Killough, Softball: Killough threw a no-hitter and three-run home run to lead the Hancock softball team to a 10-0 win at College of the Canyons last Thursday. Canyons won 31 games last season and advanced to the Super Regionals. The sophomore went 3-for-3 at the plate with 3 RBI. In the circle, she issued one walk and struck out two to record the second no-hitter of her career. Hancock won all three games it played on the road last week. Killough went 5-for-9 with 4 RBI and 2-0 with 8 eight strikeouts over eight innings during the three-game stretch. The softball team is off to a 5-0 start for the second conseuctive season.
January 22 - Jan. 28: Devin Davis, Men's Basketball: Davis continues to fill the stat sheets to help the men's basketball team stay in the conference title hunt. The sophomore recorded double-doubles in Hancock's two wins this week. He scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Hancock's 83-80 win over rival Cuesta College. He followed that with 16 points, 13 boards and six assists in the Bulldogs' 103-85 victory at Oxnard. Davis has a team-leading six double-doubles this season. The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to three games.
January 15 - Jan. 21: Karly Beyers, Women's Basketball: Beyers collects her second Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week of the season. Beyers hit three 3-point buckets in the third quarter to help Hancock outscore Santa Barbara City College 17-8 and extend its lead to 42-29. A jumper from the Pioneer Valley High School graduate with 1:28 remaining in the third gave Hancock its largest lead of the game at 42-27. Beyers finished the night with 20 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one steal. The sophomore hit 8-of-13 from the floor overall and 4-of-7 from beyond-the-arc. The Bulldogs won at SBCC 52-39 to earn their first Western State Conference victory of the season.
January 1 - Jan. 7: Devin Davis, Men's Basketball: Davis earrned his first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award. The sophomore guard averaged 12 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last weekend and recorded two double-doubles to help the Bulldogs win the consolation championship at Cuesta College's Winter Classic. Davis scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help Hancock come from behind to defeat LA Harbor 83-65 in the semifinals. He followed that up with 11 points and a career-best 14 rebounds in Hancock's 74-65 victory over Pasadena on the final day. With his back-to-back double-doubles, Davis has now has four on the season.
Dec.25 - Dec. 31: Shane Carney, Men's Basketball: Carney received his second Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season. The sophomore averaged 15.3 points, 6.6 assists and 5.3 rebounds per game to lead the Bulldogs to a third-place finish at their 53rd annual Holiday Classic. Carney was named to the All-Tournament Team. Carney scored 15 points and dished out nine assists in Hancokc’s 75-74 win over Palomar in the third-place game. He also scored 18 points and six rebounds in the semifinals, and 13 points, 5 assists and four rebounds in the Bulldogs’ first-round win over Chabot.
Dec. 11 - Dec. 17: Spirit Ricks, Men's Basketball: Ricks earned his first career Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week Award for helping the Bulldogs win the consolation championship at a tournament hosted by L.A. Southwest. The freshman scored four points and pulled down eight rebounds in the consolation championship game against L.A. Valley where the Bulldogs came from behind to win 65-62. Ricks averaged 10.6 points and 8.6 rebounds during the three-day invitational to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Ricks recorded his third double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds in Hancock's 102-79 victory over Oxnard in the consolation semifinals.
Dec. 4 - Dec. 10: Taylor Lee-Hammer, Women's Basketball: Lee-Hammer earned her first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season after averaging 17.3 points, 5 rebounds and 4.6 assists to lead the Bulldogs to a second-place finish at the 20th annual Lady Bulldog Classuc. Lee-Hammer hit eight 3-pointers over the three games, and scored a season-high 22 points against undefeated College of the Sequoias, the No. 3 team in the state, in the championship game. Lee-Hammer, an all-conference pick as a freshman, ranks third on the team at 14.6 points per game to go with 3.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
Nov. 27 - Dec. 3: Karly Beyers, Women's Basketball: Women's basketball player Karly Beyers earned the nod after she averaged 13.3 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-1 mark and third-place finish at a tournament hosted by Cuesta College. Beyers recorded a double-double in the third-place game to lead the Bulldogs to a 61-48 victory over Las Positas with 15 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Nov. 13 - Nov. 19: Grace Rosa, Women's Basketball: Women’s basketball player Grace Rosa scores her first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week award. The sophomore scored a season-high 21 points to lead the women’s basketball team to a 65-62 overtime win at Taft last week. Rosa recorded her second straight double-double with 21 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field, and 10 rebounds. She also had two steals and tied a career high with four blocked shots. The Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the season. They will host Reedley at 3 p.m. in their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Nov. 6 - Nov. 12: Shane Carney, Men's Basketball: Carney earned his first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Year honor after helping the men’s basketball team go 3-0 and win the championship at Ohlone College’s tournament. The sophomore averaged 18.3 points and 7.7 assists over the weekend and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. He scored 16 points and dished out a season-best nine assists in the Bulldogs’ 79-71 win over Monterey in the championship game. He scored a season-high 23 points in Hancock’s 113-78 win over Marin to open the three-day tournament. Carney added seven assists and four rebounds in the win. He posted 16 points, seven assists and four rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 68-63 win over Ohlone in the semifinals.
October 30-Nov. 5: Brianna Magana, Cross Country: Magana earned her first Bulldog Student-Athlete of the Week honor. The freshman became the first Allan Hancock College runner to qualify for the CCCAA Women's Cross Country State Championship in eight years. Competing at the Southern California Regional Championships at Central Park in Santa Clarita last week, Magana completed the 5K course in 21:25 to finish 73rd overall out of 187 runners. Magana led a contingent of five Hancock runners at regionals. The Bulldogs were making their first appearance at regionals as a team since 2008. The 2018 State Championship will be November 18 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
October 23-29: Maddison Stangl, Water Polo: Stangl has earned her first Hancock Student-Athlete of the Week award. The freshman scored a combined six goals to go with four assists and three steals during two Hancock wins last Saturday at Santa Barbara's Halloween Tournament . The Cabrillo High School graduate scored three times in the first quarter to lead the Bulldogs to a 14-3 win over L.A. Pierce. She finished with three goals and two assists in that game. Stangl also added three goals, two assists and three swipes in Hancock's 9-4 win over Southwestern. This season, Stangl ranks third on the team with 36 goals and third with 25 assists. Hancock will host Ventura in the first round of the Western State Conference Tournament Wednesday, Nov. 1.
October 16-22: Brianna Magana, Cross Country: Magana finished 32nd overall in 20:48 during the 2017 Western State Conference Cross Country Championships. Led by Magana, three other freshmen and a sophomore, the women finished 10th overall in the team standings. The team's performance was good enough to earn an at-large berth to the Southern California Regional Championships on November 3. It will be Hancock's first time sending a team to SoCal Regionals since 2008.
October 9-15: Isaac Bausley, Football: Freshman running back Isaac Bausley earned his first Hancock Student-Athlete of the Week award for his breakout performance. Bausley rushed for a career-high 124 yards on 20 carries and scored two touchdowns. He scored Hancock’s first two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 31-3 conference-opening win at Santa Barbara City College. Bausley had 46 rushing yards on 11 carries headed into the SBCC game. The Nipomo High School graduate led Hancock’s ground attack that finished with 296 rushing yards in the Bulldogs’ first win over SBCC since 2012.
October 2-8: Meagan Coyne, Water Polo: Coyne racked up 13 goals, eight assists and five steals to help the women’s water polo team go 3-2 last week. The sophomore scored four times and had two assists in Hancock’s 10-7 victory over Ventura College. With the game tied 7-7, Coyne scored the final three goals of the game to secure Hancock’s first win in program history over Ventura. The Righetti High School graduate was the team’s leading scorer in all three victories. During a two-day tournament hosted by Ventura later in the week, the sophomore scored four goals in Hancock’s 9-8 win over Palomar and added three more the Bulldogs’ 13-3 victory over El Camino.
Sept. 25 - Oct. 1: Basiru Jobe, Football: Jobe earned his first Hancock Athlete of the Week award with a historic performance. The sophomore recorded 20 total tackles in the football team's 50-35 win over Santa Ana last Saturday. The linebacker made 13 solo stops and 4.5 tackles for lost yardage, including 1.5 sacks. The 20 sacks broke the program record for most tackles in a single-game of 19 previously held by Willie Iribarren, who had 19 stops agains Santa Ana in 2014, and Anthony Johnson, who recorded 19 tackles against Canyons in 2012.
Sept. 18-24: Migel Gomez, Men's Soccer: The sophomore earned Western State Conference Athlete of the Week honors after helping the men's soccer team win four straight games. Gomez, a Cabrillo High School graduate, had one goal and three asists in three Hancock road wins last week. Gomez, an all-conference pick as a freshman, finished with 10 goals and a team-high 11 assists in 2016.
