Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table Honors Hancock's Athletes of the Year

Allan Hancock College's best and brightest were among dozens of local student-athletes who were honored Wednesday evening during the 2018-19 Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table's (NSBCART) Hall of Fame and Scholarship Banquet.

Running back Ryheem Skinner was named Male Athlete of the Year. The sophomore earned Pacific League Offensive Player of the Year and All-State honors his sophomore season after ranking fourth in the state with 1,294 rushing yards. He ranked sixth in the state with 14 rushing touchdowns. He scored at least one touchdown in 10 games, helping the Bulldogs win back-to-back league titles for the first time in 57 years. Hancock finished 10-1 and won the American Championship Bowl.

Male Athlete of the Year Female Athlete of the Year

Freshman swimmer Izzie Fraire took home Female Athlete of the Year honors. She was a three-time All-American, three-time Western State Conference champion, and state champion in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Righetti High School graduate set three school records during the 2019 CCCAA State Championships, adding a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke and second-place finish in the 200-individual medley.

Glenn Jordan and Kiesa Romero were recognized as Hancock's Student-Athletes of the Year. Jordan, a two-time All-Conference guard, has signed with the University of Mary, a Division II program. Jordan averaged a team-high 12.0 points per game as a sophomore, leading the Bulldogs to their second straight 23-win season. Romero earned a spot on the 2018-19 CCCWBCA Academic All-State Team with a 3.60 cumulative GPA. The Nipomo High School graduate averaged 2.5 points per game for the women's basketball team. She is transferring to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo next fall to pursued a degree in business.

Scholar-Athlete of the Year Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Baseball player Ismael Hernandez and women's basketball player Tashara Pruett received the annual Jim Glines Scholarship Award. Pruett averaged 7.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Lady Bulldogs. The Lompoc native, a proud mother to Anayah, will transfer to a four-year university next year to pursue a nursing degree. Hernandez has committed to play at Campbellsville University. The Cabrillo High School graduate hit .295 with 24 RBI and a team-high 39 hits this spring. He also went 3-4 with a 3.90 ERA and a conference-leading four saves. He finished his Hancock career with 41 games pitched, which ranks No. 2 in program history.
