Hawks drop Phillips 66 opener to Hancock
LPC's three-game winning streak came to an end Thursday with a 71-45 loss to Allan Hancock in the first round of the Phillips 66 Invitational at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo.
Cayla Nava scored 12 points for LPC--all on three-pointers--and Kristjan Aubry added 10.
Hancock (5-1) won its fourth consecutive game by outscoring LPC 23-8 in the second quarter to turn a 16-15 first-quarter lead into a 39-23 halftime advantage. Hancock finished the game shooting 48 percent from the floor, including making 4 of 9 three-pointers. The Hawks shot 33 percent from the floor.
The Hawks (5-2) will play L.A. Pierce in the consolation bracket at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
