Baseball Game at Oxnard Pushed Back to Wednesday Before Bulldogs Host Weekend Series with Porterville

The Allan Hancock College baseball team is riding a three-game winning streak headed into a week where the Bulldogs will play three games. Hancock will finish its home-and-away series with Oxnard on the road Wednesday, March 9 at 2 p.m. The contest was originally set for Tuesday, March 8, but was pushed back due to the wet weather. The Bulldogs will return home to host Porterville on Friday, March 11 at 2 p.m. before taking on the Pirates Saturday at 1 p.m.

Hancock went a perfect 3-0 last week in Western State Conference games. The Bulldogs are now 4-3 in conference and 8-7 overall after sweeping L.A. Pierce last week 6-3 on the road and 5-1 at home. The Bulldogs later stymied Oxnard 3-1 on Saturday.

In the game at L.A. Pierce, Isaiah Ramos earned his first win with seven solid innings. He scattered six hits and two earned runs. Matt Reynolds struck out two in two shutout innings to earn the save. Colton Studebaker had three hits, while Jacob Tonascia and Kyle von Tillow had two apiece. Tonascia led the Bulldogs with two hits and 3 RBI. Barrick and shortstop Zach Lampreia had two hits apiece. Then last Saturday, Walker Armstrong (St. Joseph HS) threw a complete game gem to earn his first win. He allowed one run, seven hits and struck out four to throw the first complete game by a Hancock pitcher since March 2014. Studebaker had two hits to lead the Bulldogs. Tonascia and Mahoney had sacrifice flies in a two-run fourth inning that proved to be the difference.

Tonascia is Hancock's leading hitter with a .364 batting average to go with eight doubles. Barrick has a .304 batting average and a team-high six stolen bases. Studebaker is hitting .308 with a team-high 13 RBI. Mahoney is second on the team with 12 RBI to go with a .281 batting average.
