Hancock Baseball Falls 3-2 to Irvine Valley
Daniel Curiel had three hits and Walker Armstrong threw eight-solid innings, but the Allan Hancock College baseball team fell 3-2 to Irvine Valley Friday afternoon. The Bulldogs dropped to 4-8 on the season. Irvine Valley improved to 11-5.
Hancock struck first in the top of the fifth. Kyle von Tillow drew a leadoff walk and moved to second on a single from Brandon Davis. von Tillow came around to score on a single to left off the bat of Nash Ackerman to give Hancock a 1-0 lead.
Irvine Valley tied it with an unearned run in the fifth against Armstrong. Perez had singled and moved to second on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning.
Alec Ceniceros delivered a two-run double off Armstrong in the sixth though to give Irvine Valley the lead for good at 3-2 in the sixth.
The Bulldogs threatened in the seventh when Ryan Peinado and Brandon Davis reached on errors to put runners at second and third with nobody out. However, the Bulldogs could not score and left the bases loaded.
Both teams finished with eight hits. Ackerman and von Tillow had one RBI each for the Bulldogs.
Armstrong took the loss to fall to 1-3. The sophomore allowed eight hits, three runs, two of them were earned, and one walk. He struck out a season-best nine hitters.
The Bulldogs will look to get back on track Saturday at Cypress. Hancock fell 3-0 to the Chargers on Friday.
