A four-year varsity baseball player for Highland High School, Flaningam hit .310 with 11 doubles, one home run and 24 RBI his senior year. After earning all-league honors, he was invited to play in the Senior All-Star Game. Making the playoffs is his favorite sports memory. His grandfather was drafted by the Houston Astros. He is a kinesiology major, who plans to coach and become a teacher.
