BASEBALL: BULLDOGS FALL TO CANYONS, SNAP TWO-GAME WINNING STREAK

College of the Canyons scores four runs in the 7^th and 8^th innings to hand the Bulldogs their third loss of the season.

The Bulldogs were coming off of two high-scoring wins, putting up 26 runs in the last two games, including a 14-5 victory over Canyons.

Solid defense by both teams kept the game scoreless for the first two innings.

At the top of the 3^rd, Canyons was the first to draw blood, scoring on a wild pitch by the Bulldogs, taking the lead 1-0.

Despite a single by sophomore Davey Demeter in the bottom of the inning, the Bulldogs were unable to answer in the inning.

In the bottom of the 4^th, the Bulldogs responded with a single by sophomore Reed Odland, followed by a 2-run homer by Righetti alum Zach Rudd to take the lead 1-2.

After a walk and a balk that advanced freshman Chris Tani to second base, a single by freshman Jeff Ray from Lompoc high school would bring Tani home, extending the Bulldogs lead to 1-3 in the 5th.

After getting two early outs in the 7^th, Canyons hit 3 singles, scoring a run and an error by the Bulldogs, giving them another run, to take tie the game 3-3. 

In the top of the 8^th, a walk and a wild pitch advanced a Canyons runner to the third base. A sacrifice ground-out would bring the runner home. Canyons took the lead 4-3.

The Bulldogs were unable to match it, losing with a final score of 4-3.  

The Bulldogs host San Jaoquin Delta College this Friday and Saturday. First pitch Friday is at 2pm, Saturday is at 12 noon.
