Bulldogs Stay Hot with Sweep at Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team extended its hot streak with a sweep over Ventura in a road test on Thursday afternoon.

The victory stretching the active win streak to nine for the program and lifts the Bulldogs to 11-3 on the season (6-0 WSC) while Ventura falls to 7-7 (3-3 WSC).

GAME ONE: HANCOCK 8, VENTURA 0

Hancock scored first in the top of the second after a single from Parker Haskell plated one. Trenton Pallas extended the lead in the fourth with an RBI single and heads-up base running led to a two-run inning. Hancock scored once in the fifth after capitalizing on another Pirate error. A pair of singles from Evan Kling and Travis Welker, along with a sacrifice fly from Jeff Ray, plated a trio of runners in the sixth before an RBI double from Jacob Ruley closed the scoring in the final frame. 

Trevor Garcia collected the win on the bump after striking out four batters and scattering five hits through six innings of work. Ricardo Rodriguez closed the contest in the final inning but did not factor into the final decision.

GAME TWO: HANCOCK 13, VENTURA 7

Offensive production exploded for the Bulldogs in the nightcap as the squad put up 13 runs and notched 17 hits en route to the victory. Hancock scored five runs through the first two innings, highlighted by a pair of doubles from Jeff Ray and Jacob Ortega. Ventura responded with four runs over the next two frames to cut the deficit to one. A two-run homer from Evan Steinberger sparked a four-run inning for the Bulldogs in the fifth frame, but the Pirates responded with one run in the bottom of the inning. Hancock notched another four-run showing in the sixth frame after tallying four runs on five hits before the Pirates closed out scoring in the final inning. 

Conner Gleissner secured the win on the rubber after punching out three batters through 1.2 innings of work. Vance Serrano, Isaac Baez, Lucas Earle, and Anthony Garcia also made appearances on the bump but did not factor into the final decision. 

UP NEXT

The Bulldogs will resume league play on Saturday, May 8th, with a doubleheader event at home versus Ventura. First pitch is set for 12 PM with the second game slated to start at approximately 3 PM on John Osborne Field.
