Bulldogs Place Five on All-State Squad, Ruley Named as Pacific Association Gold Glove recipient

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - After one of the most successful showings in recent history, the Allan Hancock College baseball program placed five student-athletes on the CCCBCA Southern California All-State team. 

Jacob Ruley headlined the list of award winners after being named as an All-State selection, as a Pacific Association Gold Glove recipient, for his work in the outfield. He boasted a perfect fielding percentage in the grass after recording 49 putouts and two assists on the season. Ruley also tallied 25 hits at the plate, including six doubles and two triples, and recorded 16 RBIs en route to a .385 batting average. 

Travis Welker and Jeff Ray also collected All-State nods for their infield presence. Welker finished the season with a .369 batting average while notching five doubles, one home run, 10 stolen bases, and 20 RBIs. In the field, Welker totaled 64 assists and 41 putouts en route to a .963 fielding percentage at the shortstop position. Ray posted a .344 batting average while recording 27 RBIs and six doubles on 21 hits. He also tallied 31 putouts, 48 assists, and 10 double plays this season with a perfect fielding percentage.  

Matthew Gonzales and Trevor Garcia rounded out the list of honorees for the Bulldogs after receiving All-State distinctions for their work on the mound. Gonzales collected three wins and one save on the mound while posting a 1.45 ERA through 37.1 innings of work. He finished the 2021 campaign with 36 strikeouts and surrendered just six earned runs after facing 130 batters.
