Baseball Wins in Walk-Off Fashion After Long's Sacrifice Fly

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team topped Pasadena City College in regulation after a sacrifice fly from Gavin Long plated the game-winning run in the ninth frame. | BOX SCORE

Tommy Kendlinger and Elijah Pascual opened the scoring with a pair of RBI singles in the third inning, but Hancock's lead disappeared with a three-run effort from the Lancers in the sixth. Keelor Loveridge knotted the score in the next frame with his first home run of the season by sending a shot over the right field fence. 

Pasadena City opened the ninth inning with a single up the middle that scored one, but a triple down the right field line by Jeremy Camarena evened the playing field. Long stepped up to a bases-loaded scenario with one out after Kendlinger and Pascual both were walked, which ended with a sacrifice fly to left field that plated the game-winning run. 

Nate Wenzel was credited with the win after tossing the final four innings of the game. He struck out six batters and surrendered just one earned run after scattering four hits. Nick Brown tossed five innings en route to a non-decision performance, which featured seven strikeouts and three earned runs after seven hits. 

The Bulldogs are set to scheduled to return to action Tuesday, April 18th, with a home showing against LA Pierce College. Single-game tickets for the upcoming game, which is scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM on John Osborne Field, can be purchased here. As per usual, the ticketing gate will be cashless and fans are strongly encouraged to purchase their tickets prior to arrival, but credit/debit card purchases can be made at the gate.
