Baseball's Brayan Nunez Commits to Cal State LA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Allan Hancock College catcher, Brayan Nunez, will continue his academic and athletic career at the next level after announcing his commitment to Cal State LA.

"Cal State LA was the best fit for me and the vibes were right. The coaching staff showed a lot of interest in me throughout the entire recruiting process and that means something to me," Nunez shared.

Nunez, a First Team All-Conference honoree, recently completed his second season with the Bulldogs. He closed his sophomore campaign by boasting the squad's highest on-base percentage (.459) and led the way for Hancock with three homers on the season. The Santa Maria High School grad ranked third on the AHC squad in hits (52) and finished second in batting average (.349). He also caught nine runners attempting to steal and has allowed just eight passed balls through 36 games behind the plate.

"My time at AHC prepared me for the four-year level in numerous ways. I've learned time management after balancing expectations in the classroom, in the weight room, at swim workouts, at study hall, and at the field," Nunez added. "No questions asked - our program works hard every day and that has prepared me for success at the next level."

The Golden Eagles are a Division II member of the NCAA and compete in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
