Baseball Bounces Back with Win over Mt. San Jacinto

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team closed out the non-conference slate with a narrow 3-2 victory over Mt. San Jacinto College at home on Friday afternoon. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (20-14) got on the board first in the third frame when a triple down the right field line by Isaiah Hernandez drove one run in. Both programs scored in the fourth when the Eagles (24-10) plated a runner after a bases-loaded hit by pitch before Ricky Smith used a sacrifice fly to drive a run in. Mt. San Jacinto evened the playing field in the fifth with an RBI single to center field and held the tie through the top of the ninth. The bases were loaded with two outs in the bottom of the frame when Hernandez was walked after a full count, which plated the winning run to end the contest.

Cooper Bagby secured his sixth win of the season after tossing the final four frames. He struck out two batters and allowed one hit while facing 15 batters. Mason Robertson earned the start in his no-decision appearance where he retired eight batters and was charged with two earned runs after scattering three hits through five innings.

The Bulldogs will open the final round of Western State Conference (North) play on Tuesday, April 16th, at home against LA Pierce College at 2:30 PM. AHC currently ranks third in the conference standings behind Cuesta College and Santa Barbara City College.
