Baseball Tops Brahmas, 14-5

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team remains in second place in the Western State Conference (North) standings after topping LA Pierce College at home on Tuesday afternoon, 14-5. | BOX SCORE

The Bulldogs (21-14, 14-5) took the lead in the third with a four-run rally after trailing by one through the first two frames. Gavin Long sparked the scoring frenzy with an RBI single up the middle before Stephen Espinoza brought two runners home with a double to right. Ricky Smith used a double to plate Espinoza before the inning came to a close. 

Hancock extended the lead in the fourth with another five-run streak, which was highlighted by an RBI single from Bridger Coleman and another double by Espinoza. Both sides scored in the fifth as the Brahmas (5-29, 3-16) sent a shot over the right field fence and Blake Edgmon made his way home on an LAP error. Pierce added a run in the sixth after capitalizing on a wild pitch before Espinoza and Smith drove in one run apiece to close the inning. Scoring came to an end in the eighth with the Brahmas registering another run after a wild pitch ahead of an RBI single up the middle from Jesse Conrad

Tommy Kendlinger was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, which included one double and one triple. Espinoza also had a day after tallying four RBIs after going 2-for-4 in the box, while Long and Smith chipped in two RBIs each. 

Jaiden Turner picked up his fourth with of the season on the bump after as many innings. He struck out two batters and was charged with two earned runs after scattering six hits. 

The Bulldogs are currently tied with Cuesta College in the league standings are are one game behind the current conference leader, Santa Barbara City College (15-4), with five games remaining in the regular season slate. They will square off against Moorpark College at home on Thursday, April 18th, at 2:30 PM on John Osborne Field.
