Bulldogs Shutout Long Beach City in Home Opener
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College baseball team dominated Long Beach in a decisive 9-0 shutout victory on Tuesday afternoon. Strong pitching and timely hitting propelled the Bulldogs to their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-1 while Long Beach City College fell to 1-2. | BOX SCORE
The game remained scoreless through the first two innings before the Bulldogs broke through in the third, plating two runs to take an early lead. They then exploded for five runs in the fifth and added two more in the sixth, securing a commanding 9-0 advantage that held through the end of the game.
Josue Garcia led the charge for Allan Hancock, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a crucial bases-loaded hit in the third inning that plated two. Cesar Garcia added to the effort with a three-run shot over the fence in the bottom of the fifth before Braden Oliver showcased his power with a solo home run in the sixth.
Hancock's pitching staff delivered a stellar performance, allowing just seven hits while striking out seven Long Beach batters. Starter Jaiden Turner (1-1) set the tone with a strong outing, going deep into the game and keeping the Vikings offense in check through five innings of work. Austin Moccardini and Evan Chavez combined as the closing relievers with two strikeouts apiece.
The Bulldogs are set to return to action on Saturday, February 1, at home against College of the Canyons at 1 PM.
