FOOTBALL GETS OFFENSIVE IN ROUT OF WEST HILLS
COALINGA-- The Allan Hancock College football team defeated the West Hills Falcons, 45-7, in an offensive explosion that saw the Bulldogs amass 440 yards, 291 on the ground.
Hancock (1-1) was in control of the game from the opening kick-off until the final gun. The Bulldogs built up a 21-0 halftime lead behind quarterback Jonathan Dally (So., Righetti HS), who ran for one touchdown and connected on two TD passes to fullback Andrew Hirsch (So., Arroyo Grande).
The first score was a six yard scamper by Dally on a bootleg run with 5:41 remaining in the first quarter. The bootleg play set up the two TD passes to Hirsch as Dally threw on the run to the fullback, who scored from 19 yards with 6:48 in the second quarter and 27 yards five minutes later.
In the third quarter, AHC scored on two spectacular plays, one on offense and the other on special teams. With 8:55 left in the quarter, freshman Andre Cirino (Staten Island, NY) bounced off several defenders before breaking free for a 44 yard TD run. On the last play of the third quarter, linebacker Samuel Guilliume (Fr., Malden, MA) blocked an attempted field goal, scooped up the ball, and ran 80 yards for the score.
In the fourth, backup QB Casey Cathcart (Fr., St. Joseph HS) connected on a 46 yard TD pass to Tyrell Munnerlyn (Fr., Ocala, FL) with a precise throw that led the receiver perfectly past the defender. After the lone West Hills touchdown, Sal Gutierrez kicked a 24 yard field goal to end the scoring.
Dally completed the night 5-of-10 for 103 yards and two touchdowns. The leading rusher was Lorenzo Goode (Fr., Richmond, VA), who ran for 70 yards on six carries. Cirino ran three times for 53 yards, Terrell Denson (Fr., Philadelphia, PA) had 49 yards on three carries and Shaun Stewart ran 11 times for 43 yards.
