Bulldogs Lose Hard Fought Game Against Pasadena
The officiating was a large part of the game tonight and in the end the penalties did not bode well for the Bulldogs. The final score was 22-14 after Pasadena caught an interception late in the fourth quarter and ran the ball a heartbreaking 90 yards to seal the win.
The Bulldogs were first and goal from the seven yard line and two penalties later the team was at the 22 yard line with only 38 second left in the fourth quarter when Pasadena made that late interception.
It was close throughout, with Pasadena getting on the scoreboard early with a long drive ending in a three yard run. Hancock defense blocked the extra point and the score was 6-0. The Bulldogs answered with their own touchdown six minutes into the first quarter. Quarterback Gavin Kelly (Santa Maria)threw a 73 yard pass to Scott Cathcart (Santa Maria) to give the Bulldogs a 7-6 lead.
Kelly scored a 10-yard touchdown in the second, giving the Bulldogs what would be their largest lead of the night at 14-6. Pasadena answered with another touchdown and then missed their two point conversion making the score 14-12. In the third quarter Pasadena took the lead 15-12 after hitting z 36 yard field goal and the score stayed tight up until the interception at the end of the second half.
