
Artis-Payne Score Go-Ahead Touchdown for Panthers to Lead Quartet of Former Bulldogs in NFL Preseason Games
Cameron Artis-Payne scored his first touchdown of the 2018 NFL Preseason to lead a quartet of former Allan Hancock College football players over the weekend.
Artis-Payne scored on a three-yard run early in the fourth quarter to put the Carolina Panthers ahead for good in their preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Friday. To watch the touchdown run, click here. The fourth-year running back finished with 18 yards on seven carries, including a game-best five-yard gain. The Panthers defeated the Dolphins 27-20.
Rookie running back Malik Williams broke out for a seven-yard gain for Atlanta during the Falcons 28-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Williams finished with four total yards on two carries in the game. The Falcons signed the 22-year old Williams after the 2018 NFL Draft.
Josh Thornton recorded two tackles in the Houston's 16-13 win over San Francisco. The 25-year old cornerback signed with the Texans' practice squad last season after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions.
Brian Price, a second-year defensive tackle with the Dallas Cowboys, made three tackles, including two for lost yardage in the Cowboys' 21-13 loss to Cincinnati. He made both of his tackles for lost yardage five yards behind the line of scrimmage.
During the preseason's third week Carolina hosts New England on Friday, August 24. Thornton and the Texans play the Los Angeles Rams, while Williams and Atlanta head to Jacksonville on Saturday. Dallas hosts Arizona at 5 p.m. on Sunday in a game that can be viewed nationally on NBC.
