Bio

Gilmet earned a spot on the All-Mountain League First Team his senior season at Arroyo Grande High School. He rushed for 868 yards and 13 touchdowns, and caught six passes for 130 yards and two more scores his senior year. He also made 43 total tackles and had three sacks at linebacker. He rushed for more than 1,100 yards during both his sophomore and junior seasons. In three seasons of varsity football, Gilmet finished with 3,083 rushing yards and 35 rushing touchdowns. He also hit .319 for the Eagle baseball team his senior year. He chose Hancock because of its great reputation and its coaches.  Gilmet’s favorite sports memory is beating Westlake in the first round of CIF when he had 225 yards rushing on 28 carries. A fun fact about James is that his great great uncle is Kiki Cuyler who is a member of the baseball hall of fame and had played with Babe Ruth.
