Football Holds in Top 20 of Latest Coaches' Poll
SAN MATEO, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College football team remained ranked in the latest edition of the JC Athletic Bureau Coaches' Top 25 Poll, announced by the association on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs fell three spots to No. 18 and tallied 86 points in the poll after suffering a loss to Fullerton College last Saturday. Riverside City College (4-0) was a unanimous choice to hold onto the No. 1 ranking, following a convincing 58-21 victory over formerly No. 3 Golden West. College of San Mateo remained No. 2, leading the North. CSM took a first half 24-0 lead at No. 21 American River and capitalized on seven turnovers before allowing fourth quarter scores, taking a 24-14 win. Moving up one position each were No. 3 Mt. San Antonio, No. 4 Cerritos, and No. 5 Laney – completing the group of still unbeaten 4-0 National Division teams.
Other members of the National Northern League mentioned in the poll are No. 10 Ventura, No. 11 Long Beach, No. 17 Canyons, and No. 24 East Los Angeles. Bakersfield remains just outside of the rankings and is mentioned in the "others receiving votes" section.
Hancock will travel to Mt. San Antonio College this weekend to close out the non-conference slate before the midseason break. National Northern League action is slated to begin with on October 15th with a home contest against East Los Angeles College.
