Football's Andrew Lauritzen Heading to West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas - Allan Hancock College defensive end, Andrew Lauritzen, has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at West Texas A&M University next season.

"I chose West Texas A&M because I've had a relationship with the coaches since high school. Their campus and facilities are top notch and it is a place where I can really see myself being able to succeed," Lauritzen shared.

Laurtizen, a native of Colorado, spent two seasons on the field with the Bulldogs. He was tabbed as both a First Team All-State and First Team All-League selection after his sophomore campaign after tallying 51 tackles and forcing two fumbles. Lauritzen also registered 6.5 sacks through 11 games, a number that ranked him at No. 12 amongst all SCFA competitors at the conclusion of the regular season. The Columbine High School alum, who received the same set of awards as a freshman, became the third member of the program to receive back-to-back First Team All-State honors over the last decade at any position since former tight end Jerome Afe ('18 & '19) and former running back Cameron Artis-Payne ('11 & '12).

"My time at Hancock helped me develop into the man I knew I wanted to be. It helped me stay focused on my two main goals - to play football at a high level and to graduate. For that, I am thankful," Lauritzen added.

The Buffaloes are a Division II member of the NCAA and compete in the Lone Star Conference.
