Football Picks Up Conference Win Over Bakersfield, 21-13

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Allan Hancock College football team moved up in the National Northern League rankings after topping Bakersfield College at home on Saturday in a 21-13 decision. The win also marks the third consecutive win over the Renegades for the program and brings the all-time series record to 11-19 against BC, which dates back to their first meeting in 1986. | BOX SCORE

ALLAN HANCOCK (3-3, 2-1) vs BAKERSFIELD (3-3, 1-2)

QUARTER 1: AHC 7 | BAKERSFIELD 0

Hancock built a scoring possession on their first touch after forcing the Renegades to punt after a quick three-and-out showing on the opening drive of the day. The drive, which totaled nine plays that spanned 63 yards, featured a number of short rushes and three completed passes by Jackson Clavel to three different receivers. Caden Harris capped off the drive with a one-yard scurry past the goal line before Arath Acosta sent the extra-point attempt through the uprights.

QUARTER 2: AHC 0 | BAKERSFIELD 0

Neither team managed to find much momentum in the second quarter as the Bulldogs saw two drives end early after interceptions and the Renegades turned the ball over on downs twice. Trent Kimmel and Aaron Small Jr. teamed up for the first turnover on downs with a pair of impactful defensive plays. Small snuffed out a short third-down conversion with a tackle that led to a five-yard loss before Kimmel broke up a pass on the following play in the 4th-and-6 situation. Hancock regained possession with 1:15 remaining on the clock after the second turnover on downs but was unable to capitalize on the opportunity after a fumbled snap on fourth down.

QUARTER 3: AHC 7 | BAKERSFIELD 0

Harris came through for the Bulldogs once more on the first play of the second half with a 65-yard rushing touchdown in the opening 15 seconds of action. Acosta followed up the score with his second successful PAT, giving the home squad a 14-0 advantage. This was the lone scoring drive for either program in the quarter as Bakersfield went on to turn the ball over on downs two more times, with both fourth down pass attempts being broken up by JaTe'vius Franklin, and the Bulldogs were forced to punt on the ensuing possession.

QUARTER 4: AHC 7 | BAKERSFIELD 13

The home squad used an 11-play drive that spanned 78 yards to close out their final scoring possession of the day. Harris and Metuliki Tupou both broke free for a pair of 15+ yard rushes, while Clavel completed an 11-yard pass to Elias Martinez en route to the end zone. Ferrari Busby brought the drive to an end with a four-yard scamper through the goal line before Acosta completed this final PAT attempt.

Bakersfield made it on the board in the ensuing possession after building a 12-play string that came to a close with a four-yard rush and a successful PAT kick. The Renegades offense took over once more after forcing a three-and-out punt from the Bulldogs in under two minutes of action. BC found the endzone again on their next drive after one short rush and three completed passes, including a 33-yard touchdown pass, before failing the extra-point attempt.

Hancock took over with four minutes remaining in regulation and managed to ride out the clock en route to the win.
