Next Level: Joey Garza to Join McNeese State Roster
LAKE CHARLES, La. - Allan Hancock College football tight end, Joey Garza, has signed on to continue his academic and athletic career at McNeese State University next season. He is one of three 3C2A transfers to sign with the Cowboys this spring.
"Division I football has always been my biggest dream since I was little and God blessed me with this opportunity to fulfill that dream with the offer from McNeese State, so I jumped on it right away," Garza shared. "Plus, everyone loves blue and yellow!"
Garza has spent two seasons on the field for the Bulldogs with one redshirt year in between. The Nipomo native is a two-time All-League honoree after being named as a First Team selection this fall and a Second Team designee as a freshman. Garza caught eight passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns through two seasons at AHC. He also blocked for a rushing attack that averaged nearly 300 yards on the ground his sophomore season.
"I was a late bloomer on the field compared to all of my friends in high school and coming to Hancock gave me time to develop and helped me get to the size I wanted to be for my position," Garza added. "The coaching staff really pushed me to be the best every day and made me better. I really believe that only the toughest people come out of the football program here at Hancock and I'm very proud to say that I'm one of them!"
The Cowboys are a Division I member of the NCAA and compete in the Southland Conference.
Thank you @CoachGGoff, @Coach__Hinson & @neugs1288 for the amazing visit, I'm proud to say that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at McNeese state!
