Next Level: Jack Clavel to Join Lincoln University Roster
OAKLAND, Calif. - Allan Hancock College quarterback, Jackson Clavel, will continue his academic and athletic career at Lincoln University in Oakland next season.
"I chose Lincoln University because I have worked my entire life to earn a full-ride scholarship and that is exactly what they were willing to offer. Lincoln believes in me and earning the opportunity to go to school for free after having to pay my way through school up to this point is something I couldn't turn down. I am beyond grateful that the Lord has blessed me to be in this position," Clavel shared. "Lincoln also has a very good business program at their school. Having the chance to play football and focus on my major at the next level was a 'no brainer' to me!"
Clavel, a native of Washington, spent two seasons on the field for the Bulldogs. During his sophomore campaign, Clavel recorded over 1,100 passing yards (102.1/game) with nine touchdown heaves on the season. His best game of the season came in the opener where he boasted an 80% completion rate with three passing touchdowns against Orange Coast.
"My time at AHC has given me some of the best moments of my life. The professors helped turn me into the great student I am today after providing me with a lot of extra help and attention outside of our limited time in class. The coaches here at Hancock have turned me into the young man that I want to be, and that I continue to be, on and off the field. I went through many personal struggles during my time here and I always had an ear with the coaches who guided me with their advice," Clavel added. "I built a great relationship with Coach Dutra, who became a great mentor for me. He spent a lot of time helping me train and always answered my phone calls or text messages. Without him, I for sure wouldn't be the player I am today."
Clavel closed with, "AHC has not only prepared me to be successful at my next school but also helped me learn to be successful in life too."
The Oaklanders currently compete as an independent school, not belonging to any NCAA division or conference, but will face several Division I opponents in the upcoming season.
